With her delicate white face, sharp chin, narrow eyes and cherry lips, this young lady represents the ideal beauty of ancient China. Her beautiful dress, long hair, headdress and the flower in her hand show that she is dressed for an important ceremony. Her sleeves cascade to the floor like a waterfall, and the embroidery embellishing her rich robes depicts motifs with very specific significance: the lotus appearing on her sash symbolises cleanliness, purity and elegance, while the copper coin signifies good fortune.
The piece is made in classic gloss finish porcelain. From a decorative standpoint, it stands out for the craftmanship in the painting of the faces and the exquisite ornamentation of the clothes, for which soft enamels have been employed.
